Places to visit

Strata Florida Abbey ruins which date back to 1197, built by Cistercian monks who supported the Welsh Princes. Burial place of Dafydd ap Gwilym, greatest Welsh mediaeval poet.

Mountain Biking and Red Kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre: Year round spectacle of Red Kites swooping in to pick-up their food. Feed times 3pm summertime, 2pm winter. Forest walks, picnic sites and challenging routes for mountain bikers. Visitor centre and café.

Cors Caron Wildlife Reserve: A wetland peat bog that supports Otters, rare plants and insects as well as being an excellent place for birdwatching, winter Hen Harrier being a speciality. Other special birds in the area are Red Kites, Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, Redstart, Wood Warblers, Barn Owls, Merlin, Peregrine Falcons. The Reserve has level board walks and bird hides. Cors Caron is also part of the National Sustrans Cycle Network.

Vale of Rheidol Railway: See the beautiful Rheidol Valley by narrow gauge steam train. The 12 mile journey starts at sea level at Aberystwyth and rises 600ft to Devils Bridge. See the breathtaking wooded gorge, view the spectacular Mynach 300ft waterfalls and the famous 3 bridges.

Teifi Pools: Walking, birdwatching and fly fishing at 3 pools in the wild mountain uplands.

Hafod Estate and the River Ystwyth Valley: 9 miles of wooded paths and waterfalls.
